Attorney: No-show client shot himself

Well.......... this is a crazy story. First of all, how did he manage to shoot himself in the chest with a shotgun. It must have hurt, not only the shot, but the setting up for it.

Also, this guy certainly didn't care much for the African Americans. Don't understand, there are some very dislike-able white folks. I wonder if he would have been so mad if the woman's visitors were white?

A lawyer for a Charleston landlord facing sentencing for a civil rights violation says the man shot himself once in the chest with a shotgun.

Daryl Lee Fierce failed to show up at his sentencing Thursday, so U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver rescheduled it for Friday. With his client still absent, attorney John Mitchell told the judge that Fierce had been hospitalized after the apparent suicide attempt at a Kanawha City motel.

The 70-year-old Fierce admitted in April that he set fire to a house he had rented to a 19-year-old woman because she had black visitors. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

Copenhaver postponed the sentencing indefinitely.
